**Alternatives for Chemical Flea Treatments**

Another issue I ask that you consider is the use of natural flea treatments. Topical/chemical flea treatments such as Frontline and Advantage are the craze—however, I do not use any of these harsh chemicals on my puppies and adults and I advise you not to either. Using some basic common sense, a product that states AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN—WASH IMMEDIATELY—is something that I personally do not want to be putting on my pet—my baby. In my opinion the fleas would actually be healthier on the puppy!

My Vet also told me about an issue involving these products. Apparently there are some counterfeit products coming out of Mexico—where the regulations are much more loose. They are very difficult to distinguish from the EPA approved products. As a result--some individuals may be putting more onto their pets than what is stated on the label.

Remember that your puppy depends on YOU for his/her care, and each vet is only human—like the rest of us—and therefore is not immune to error.

So for the sake of your puppy—please be active in his/her veterinary care—and feel free to speak your mind and ask questions! You are paying for a service—so you should have a say in what you are buying. :)
